That being said, I am also a fan of westerns. I have seen most of them and I like this one. It is not as good as the "Nine 1/2 Weeks" or "Valmont" but I think it is better than "Assassins". The plot is simple, a man is jailed for the murder of his girlfriend. He is a convicted killer, so the lawyer has to try to convince him that he is innocent. This film is rather slow, but it is done well. The story is pretty much the same as the one in "Nine 1/2 Weeks", but it is more serious. I really enjoyed the performance by Benoit Magimel. I think he is one of the best French actors out there. The story is very similar to "Assassins", but there are some differences. Also, the music is not as good as in "Nine 1/2 Weeks". I would definitely recommend this movie, even if you are not a fan of westerns. This movie is worth seeing.

But Hackman's character is like a mirror to the audience. He is a genius who is too stupid to understand what he is doing. But the genius gets the better of the guy, because he is very intelligent himself. But he is too stupid to understand what the genius is trying to do, and it becomes a kind of hilarious game. The film ends with the genius's ending, which is so funny that it makes you want to watch the film again. This film is just one of the most brilliant movies ever made, and it is very difficult to find a better one.
