We have the opportunity to be rich, if we have the guts to take advantage of it, but the people who make the money off of our ignorance will never stop at any price. There are many other movies that deal with the media and the role of the media in society. Some of them deal with the role of the media in the 1970's, and how people are misusing the media to control the masses, and some of them deal with the media in the 2000's. The "Hollywood" of today has made so much money off of our ignorance and greed, that the only thing that could bring about change is if we could gain the courage to do something about it. The cast is led by Paul Newman as a government official who is pretty much clueless about the situation. He goes through a lot of self-doubt, and his role is pretty much the same. He is not as much of a character as Newman is, but he has a certain personality that is a joy to watch. The rest of the cast is filled with experienced actors. John Turturro is a comedian who is pretty much the most likable of the cast. He plays a high-ranking official who gets involved with the Muddy Waters' operation. John Savage is a former police officer who has had his share of trouble with the law. He is the sharpest, most consistent actor in the cast. More often than not, he is the one to keep the film together. Peter Falk and Sally Kellerman are also among the actors who play roles that are not as important as the main characters.
