Somewhere in the swamp of American independent cinema, has been a producer's lost love (or love to hate), Matthew Vaughn. He's been producing comedies, like 'Road Trip' and 'Logan Lucky' which have been very successful and not surprisingly his credits are one of the reasons why he's been getting work recently. If he keeps making films like 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' or 'Social Network' (also with Jonah Hill) and seems to be working with the right people he'll eventually get his big break. With this film, he's trying to show the American public that he's capable of more than just a comedy and while his follow up film 'Social Network' was a huge hit, it wasn't his best. It was good, but nothing special. But with 'The Village' (starring Tim Robbins and directed by Mike Newell) he's shown his worth. The film is set in New York City and it's a small town that is crumbling, they're suffering from economic issues. Every other family is trying to leave, which makes it hard for the town's people to live. And it's up to Vaughn to try to save them. That's about all you need to know about the film. Vaughn plays two different characters and each one is doing their own thing. He's not the same person as before, he's not trying to be a dorky character, he's a man who wants to find his way. The only thing that's different is that the town's leader has now gone missing. When the film begins, there's a lot of funny jokes that we can't help but laugh at. Vaughn has a great sense of timing and he's just funny, which is what we expect from him. And you can tell that he's just enjoying himself. But the big problem is the movie is a bit too long, it could've been much shorter and the acting is a bit too mediocre. But in the end 'The Village' is a fun, different, and hilarious film. The movie is based on a true story and the director of the film, Mike Newell, was in fact the real life creator of the village that the film is based on. That gives you a good idea of what the film is about. Vaughn's performance is a bit shaky, he seems like he's not quite comfortable in his role but it's not so much the fault of the film. He's still a talented actor and he's always funny and has a great sense of timing, even if he's not the best in his roles. Robbins, who was great in 'Social Network', is fantastic in this movie. He plays the town's leader, who's gone missing. He's an annoying character but Robbins makes him into a character that's funny, quirky, and also very likable. The other actors are also good in the film. Emma Stone, who I know has not done much since 'The Social Network', is perfect in the role of the town's wife, she makes it seem that everything's okay and she's not there for much of the film. She's funny and she's likable and she's perfect. Owen Wilson, who plays the town's father, is hilarious and he's great in this film. Michael Shannon, who plays the leader of the village, is hilarious as well. The film is also very funny in its own way. I like the way the film tries to show that it's just a small town that is dying and it's up to one man to save it. The film is funny and the jokes keep coming and coming. The best part is that the film isn't a comedy, it's a drama that tells a good story and is full of good laughs. It's not as good as 'The Social Network', but it's still very funny and it's a good film. The Village is an entertaining, different and hilarious film. It's one of the better comedies of the year so far and I hope that Vaughn keeps making films like this. 8/10

This movie had a lot of great moments. I was really interested in this movie. There were some good dramatic scenes, and a few funny scenes. However, the movie was way too long, and it ended too abruptly. There were a few things that could have been more creative, such as having these crazy guys sit down with the cops. I know this is going to be controversial, but I think it would have been more interesting to see how these guys deal with it. The ending is also weird. If you didn't like the movie, it's probably because you expected the cops to kill them all. Also, I think that when you put too many different scenes together, you can get confused. The movie has a lot of jokes in it, but the characters are not very well developed. I also didn't like how the movie ended. It just ended abruptly. The movie had a lot of great ideas, and was very creative, but the movie was too long, and it ended abruptly.

There is nothing new in this movie. The concept of putting the camera in a situation that can't be recovered from is pretty old. Yet, the characterizations and the dialogues are brilliant. The actors have to work hard to make us believe they're in trouble, to make us laugh at the pain they suffer. Some of the performances are really good, but I think Keanu Reeves and Helen Hunt were the best. As I said, I'm not a big fan of films with dialogues that are not totally authentic. But, the dialogues in this movie are excellent. In the movie, you'll see many situations that could be understood by all. And there is no subtitles. So, if you don't understand what's going on, you'll not understand the story. This is what makes it so easy to relate to the characters. I really liked this movie and I will watch it again.

A terrific movie with an ending that is as simple as it is profound. A great film that will make you want to see it again and again.
