Sekai is a film with a great deal of ambition and a good deal of ambition in that it wants to be both a visually and aurally engaging film. It does a good job at both, but at times the film is so visually interesting that it seems to be overstylized, and the story seems to be a bit too predictable for its own good. There are some really great scenes, but at times the film seems to be more about style than substance. Still, it's a good film, and I recommend it to fans of Japanese animation.
