I think that it was a good move to have Dorff do this role because it gives the movie a different twist to the novel. I really liked the acting. It's hard to explain how good the acting was, but it was definitely something I could identify with. I thought that the supporting cast was quite good as well. The only actor I was a bit concerned with was Anthony LaPaglia, but I think he didn't need to be in this movie. If he were in it, it would've been hard to keep his character from feeling too "old."
